FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
The League of Women Voters of the Space Coast (LWVSC) will present a public forum on Saturday, November 8, 2025 at the Satellite Beach Public Library, 751 Jamaica Blvd., Satellite Beach, Fl 32937, from 11 a.m.-1:30 p.m. The topic is a very timely issue in politics today: The Hidden Seduction of Dark Money. The panel speakers addressing the issue are Ben Wilcox, Research Director for “Integrity Florida”; Amy Keith, Executive Director for “Common Cause Florida”; and Alan Ross, Chairman of “We the People of Brevard” and “South Beaches America First Conservative Coalition”. The audience will have an opportunity to pose questions for the panel after the League opens the discussion.
The LWVSC believes it is important to discuss the impact of money in politics following the “Citizens United” ruling by the U.S. Supreme Court in 2010. The decision declared corporations and unions have the same First Amendment free speech rights as individuals, which allows corporations and unions to spend unlimited amounts of money on political advocacy in elections. These issues and more will be discussed. The forum is part of LWVSC’s mission to provide educational programs from multiple viewpoints to empower voters and defend democracy. The hope is that discussion may lead to common sense solutions.
The event is free and open to all, regardless of LWVSC membership. Refreshments will be provided. Registration is requested and can be accessed from the home page of the LWVSC website at https://lwvsc.clubexpress. A registration button is below the flyer on the home page.

Panel speakers will outline the history of the “Citizens United” decision and the impact the vast growth of partisan funding has had on Floridians, oftentimes distorting the will of the voter. The panel speakers will field questions from the League as well as from the audience. The hope is that discussion may lead to common sense solutions to dark money in politics.
The League of Women Voters is a non-partisan political organization and does not support any candidate or political party.
