Join the League of Women Voters of the Space Coast for a Virtual Tour of the Jim Crow Museum of Racist Memorabilia: Using objects of intolerance to teach tolerance and social justice.
The League of Women Voters of the Space Coast (LWVSC) invites the Brevard community to attend a Virtual Tour of the Jim Crow Museum located at Ferris State University(Michigan) November 11, 2021 from 1:00 PM until 2:30 PM. The tour will take approximately an hour and be followed by a 30 minutes of Q & A session.
During the virtual tour participants will be able to view objects from six major exhibit areas and gain an understanding of how the museum strives to achieve it's mission of - Using objects of intolerance to teach tolerance and social justice. Jim Crow was not just a character or a set of "laws", it was a system that built upon itself to create and sustain a society with a racial hierarchy. Secure a place on the tour by registering on or before Nov. 10, 2021 at http://www.lwv-spacecoast.org/ (LWVSC Home page). A link to the Zoom meeting will be sent to registrants 24 hours in advance. The event is free and open to the public, however a $10.00 tax deductible donation to the Jim Crow Museum is recommended. A link to the donation site will be provided upon registration.
